Among the highlights are a vaulted Macedonian tomb, sanctuaries, theaters, a stadium where Olympic games were held, the impressive Great Baths complex, shops, and workshops. In 1977, the discovery of the Royal Tombs brought to light a treasure trove of artifacts that stunned the world. The most remarkable find is the tomb believed to belong to Philip II, the 4th-century B.C. king of Macedon and father of Alexander the Great. This tomb contained an array of extraordinary treasures, including gold wreaths, silver vessels, weapons, and couches intricately adorned with ivory, gold, and glass. These items are displayed in a museum designed to provide a unique experience, blending the atmosphere of the archaeological site with modern exhibition techniques, making it a perfect combination of history and art. Beyond the tombs, excavations have revealed other fascinating structures, including a palace, ancient workshops, part of the city itself, a theater, a temple, and additional tombs dating back to the prehistoric era. Meteora
Meteora, is a geological miracle that defies imagination. This extraordinary landscape, formed over millions of years, features towering rock formations that began to take shape during the Paleocene age, approximately 30 million years ago. While the exact process of their formation remains debated, the most widely accepted theory suggests that shifting terrain caused the massive stone towers to separate, creating the remarkable scenery we see today. As if nature’s marvel wasn’t enough, humanity added its own astonishing touch. Perched atop these dramatic cliffs are the Meteora monasteries, built by monks seeking solitude and spiritual elevation. Construction of these architectural wonders was no small feat. Records indicate that while a single monastery could be constructed in as little as two years, it took 20 years to transport the necessary supplies to the summit.
Today, six monasteries remain preserved, four of which are still inhabited. During your visit, you will explore two of these incredible monasteries, marveling at their intricate frescoes, sacred icons, and the incredible history they embody. The view from these heights is as spiritual as it is stunning, offering a perspective unlike anything else on Earth.

Important Note: Proper attire is required to enter the monasteries. Women must wear long skirts and long-sleeved shirts, while men must wear long trousers.
